A Bilingual Captain and Certified Sailing Instructor
Israel first fell in love with sailing about the time that he fell in love with his (future) wife. She had a little Sunfish they played with on the weekends up and down Clear Lake and Galveston Bay. After several ASA classes and a charter in the BVIs, he realized that his passion was not simply limited to day sailing.
Israel’s first major passage was from Bahia de Caraquez, Ecuador to Easter Island, Chile. During this 28-day endeavor, he learned how to read the ocean, play with the wind, and settle in and enjoy a long passage.
In the sailing mecca of Anacortes, Israel cut his teeth repairing diesel engines, rigging, plumbing, electrical, and through holes at Marine Servicenter.
Venturing north to Seward, Alaska, Israel continued repairing various aspects of all kinds of vessels as well as winterizing them.
After his time spent in the cold, white north, Israel returned home to Mexico in 2020 with a mission: to bring American-style service to the Baja Peninsula. Based in La Paz, he offers a full range of customized sailing services—from yacht deliveries and private charters to ASA and ISSA sailing instruction, from introductory courses to coastal cruising.
When he’s not delivering boats across the Sea of Cortez and along the Pacific, Israel captains day sails and overnight charters to nearby islands and ecological preserves, sharing the magic of these pristine waters with his guests. As an instructor, he teaches with passion and enthusiasm, ensuring each student leaves with new skills, greater confidence, and a deeper appreciation for the sea.
No matter the job—teaching, chartering, or deliveries—Israel brings professionalism, safety, and a welcoming smile to every voyage.
